Josie Emmons Turner, Tacoma's Poet Laureate, invites YOU to come to a FREE
poetry workshop exploring Place and Persona.

When:                Saturday, July 16,  9:00 - 1:00

Where:                Fort Nisqually Museum Great Room

How to register???        Fill out the attached form and send to
josie.turner.poet@gmail.com  Space is limited.  Registration is on first
come basis.

In a persona poem, you the writer are not the "I."  It is a great technique
that frees the writer to explore new and imaginary worlds.  In the workshop,
we will look at how we can combine the chimerical with a real concrete
physical place to create interesting poems.  The first two hours will be
spent with all workshop participants at Fort Nisqually exploring various
persona poems.  You will then have a private hour for quiet reflection and
writing on your own.  During the final hour, we will share our new draft
poems, reading them aloud to one another.  Bring a snack or a lunch, paper,
a pen and a pencil, and something to write on as we will be outside in the
park on our own.

Special thanks to the Tacoma Arts Commission for sponsoring this event and
to Metro Parks Tacoma for providing the space!
