I now see that there are many happy users, and it appears that this could be
a handy device for those who use it frequently. In my case, however, I only
have one engine, and lay-up once a year, so the method I described is easy to
employ. And, the rig I use is used at lay-up anyway to clean and flush the
engine room bilge. Having been indoctrinated, in the 60s, into the marine
engineering world by a fellow who grew up during the Depression and W.W.II, I chose
made his mantra mine: Use it up, wear it out, make it do. The "make it do" part
induces me to think twice before buying another piece of gear to ease a task
which could be performed with something already at hand. So, I seldom do so,
unless there are compelling reasons.

Insofar as the antifreeze, one person questioned my "polluting" and so I feel
compelled to say that I only lay-up while on the hard, so no AF gets into the
water. Further, and I do use the "benign" antifreeze.

Which is true you could, but having a handy length of hose and garden
type push snap fittings on the Thoroflush units - then all it takes is a
turn of the levers and you're off an running. Taking the tops of the
strainers is something I only do for cleaning - always the possibility
of being careless and damaging the gaskets etc. KISS. Incidentally as I
posted elsewhere use non-toxic anti-freeze.
