Postpone the start of your trip?  Don't do that!  If you aren't careful you might never get started. Boats are never finished. In fact, a friend once quipped that everything on your boat is broken...you just don't know it yet.
Cruising has been defined as repairing your boat in exotic locations.

I've deleted the original posters question, but as I remember it he has a
leak in a Lofrans Tigress windlass. Don't let that scare you too much. I've
torn down a Tigress that had spent 2 weeks in the bottom of a slip after
Hurricane Ike. Amazingly enough, it had about a half teaspoon of water in
it, and no rust at all. The only difficult part of the tear down is getting
the screws out of the side plate. SS screws in aluminum housing. In my
case, they all came out with no damage. Imtra has the seals, gaskets, and
bearings in stock for the repair. Of course, first thing is to determine
where the leak is, but unless it is a cracked case it shouldn't be too
difficult of a repair. You can go to their (Imtra's) website and download a
manual with an exploded parts diagram that will help with the teardown and
parts id. Imtra also has pretty good tech support for this.
Hope this helps.

The morning of our departure the fresh water system pump died. So much for leaving early. We did eventually leave that day but missed the fair tide.

The rest of the trip was uneventful with the exception of snapping a fuel injector line off the coast of New Jersey. And the weeds sucked up into the forward head. And the transmission leaking 1/2 a quart a day.

Just wash off the deck and go. Anchoring is over-rated.
