This is a repeat with one change relating to invitations, below. I am taking over for Tom as Fest fixtures chair for at least 2017, and maybe longer. First, a huge thanks to Tom who has been Fest fixtures chair for something like 30 years (and Maggot fixtures chair for about 20 years)! A truly remarkable run, a job well done, and a well deserved break! As Fest fixtures chair I will be managing team entries and payments, insurance compliance, communication leading up to Fest and the Thur evening fixtures. Lance Osler will be responsible for scheduling in the week prior to Fest, and on Sat and Sun of Fest. *Maggot Fest 2017 Changes* *New Location* We will be on the new Fort Missoula Regional Park, just a few blocks west of the current location, with 8 full size high quality pitches. This will be one of the premiere sports complexes in the country….. you won’t want to miss this inaugural event! *New Date – Mark your Calendar!* Maggot Fest 2017 will be held on the 3rd weekend in May, May 20&21 2017. There are lots of reasons for this, but in 2017 we will be on the new park, which means we have more flexibility in scheduling, and waiting longer will give the turf a little more time to take hold. This is an experiment: if it goes well, we will leave it on the 3rd weekend, if not, we may move it back to the 1st weekend. *Expanded Number of Teams, and Old Boys Division* We’ve always been limited to 36 teams due to the limitation of 6 pitches, but with 8, we will be accepting up to 48. With more capacity, we will be running an Old Boys Division. We have had an ever growing number of Old Boys teams in years past. We had 5 in 2016, and could have had 6 if we had room. Our target is 8 but will take more if there is interest, and we will be marketing specifically to Old Boys teams so spread the word. If the mix is right, we may do 4 teams that are 35-45 and 4 that are 45 and over, so that guys are playing guys closer to their age. *Look for your Fest Invite in a couple of months* This email is only a heads up on the date and the Old Boys division, so you can mark your calendars, and start planning. Instead of sending out invites in January like we have in the past, we will be accepting payment via a new Fest webpage and Squareup throughout the year; we hope to have this up and running in a month or two.
