July 10 - A trip starting at Rock Point Provincial Park (which is on the
north shore of Lake Erie 50 km west of Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, NY,
at the source of the Niagara River) and traveling east ward to Fort Erie,
resulted in 10 shorebird species.
At Rock Point P. P. there were 8 shorebird species including 19 Lesser
Yellowlegs, 58 Least Sandpipers, 4 Semipalmated Sandpipers, a Pectoral
Sandpiper, 2 Black-bellied Plovers, and a Ruddy Turnstone.
6 km to the east of Rock Point along Lakeshore Road at Long Beach CA in the
southwest corner of Wainfleet there were 4 Short-billed Dowitchers and 7
Least Sandpipers. 10 km to the east of Rock Point at the east base of
Morgans Point in Wainfleet there was a Greater Yellowlegs with 3 Lesser
Yellowlegs.
In western Fort Erie at the south end of Stonemill Road there was another
Short-billed Dowitcher, 12 Least Sandpipers, a Lesser Yellowlegs, and 7
