We are ready to begin the Quality Assurance testing process for v5.0. There are a few changes to the QA process, so even if you're an old hand at this please read through this whole email!
To start testing, visit the the testing tasks page (bitly link below) and assign yourself a task by entering your name into the Tester column and an X into the In progress column. Don't forget to add an X to the Complete column when you're done! New to QA testing? Grab a one of the primary or secondary tab tests - these are the simplest tests and will get you familiar with the process. Please run the test on latest version of the Browser specified in column B - some of you will be very happy to notice that v5.0 includes support for Edge.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1O8dBYB5E_pfXUKhMSedt-cwHPkeaS1PB0BP1nDR-sDw/edit?usp=sharinghttp://bit.ly/cspace_v5-0qa
At this time, all tasks are to be completed using the core CSpace installation. We will have a second round of QA testing for each profile. Because v5.0 is using our shiny new UI code, we need to make sure we can walk before we start running!
Those who have done QA with us before will notice a few changes. First, we are experimenting with Atlassian's cloud-hosting for the wiki, and have moved all QA tests to the new wiki site. We hope this new site will be a more useful and user-friendly spot - we'll keep the old one around for posterity but hope to move all the good stuff to the new site over the next few months. Some tests haven't been moved over yet, so check back on the testing tasks page as it will continue to be updated.
Second, we've consolidated many procedure-specific tests into generic tests to cut down on QA wiki page maintenance. We'll still run tests on every single procedure and authority, we just won't maintain 50 separate wiki pages to do so. Questions or concerns about the new system? Let us know!
The QA server can be accessed via:
http://qa.collectionspace.org:8180/cspace/core/login
Found a bug? Head over to issues.collectionspace.orghttps://issues.collectionspace.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa and let us know about it. Please choose DRYDOCK as the project instead of CollectionSpace, and make sure to note your OS and browser combo. Never filed a bug before? Follow the instructions or watch the short video on the wiki:
https://collectionspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COL/pages/150568966/Quality+Assurance.
QA is a critical part of the process, and we couldn't do it without the assistance of our community.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Megan & Richard

I've gotten a few questions about the testing tasks page, so a quick clarification:
Please only do the task using the browser listed in column B. There are some tasks that we need tested across multiple browsers, you'll see those tasks listed more than once with specific browser assignments.
Thanks, and keep the good questions coming!

Thank you to everyone who has participated in QA testing for v5.0! We are making great progress but need to pick up the pace a little bit in order to wrap core testing up by the middle of next week and move on to profile testing.
There are plenty of unassigned tasks on the list, and I'll be adding more today so please grab one if you haven't already. It's not a huge time commitment but we can't release without your help.
