We had 18 boats racing last night: 5 Spinnaker, 5 Non-Spinnaker, 4 Open, and 4 Ideal 18. Winds were moderate (5 to 10 kts) from the north. RC posted course 19X (to northern mark - A or B - and back). With the wind fading slightly as dusk approached, all PHRF racers crossed the finish line between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Now that each Cruising Fleet Division has completed 6 Wednesday Night Series races, we throw out the two worst scores for each boat (except for DSQ), and the standings below reflect this. Note, to achieve 3 throwouts, we have to complete 11 races -- that would be no more abandoned races for the balance of the Wednesday Series season. Likely? The top four contenders in the Spinnaker division are very close (Wed Series standings at 6, 8, 9, 10), so the Spinnaker series is still wide open, especially if there are DNCs among the leaders. The spread's a little wider in the Non-Spinnaker fleet among the top four (5,7,11, 12), but here too much can change over the last 5 races.

Our Cruising Fleet Champ Series has a 20 race minimum. Right now only Hee Soo (with 15 races) could qualify by sailing only Wednesdays for the balance of the season, and only if we have no more Wednesday abandons. All other boats will need to sail Sundays or Regattas (NBC or HRYRA) to meet the minimum. (Note to Wednesday Spinnaker Division skippers -- any race, any division counts for Fleet Champ; Sundays are a good time to sharpen those upwind tactics in the Non-Spin division, and you need fewer crew!).

Our Cruising Fleet Sunday/Regatta series has a 10 race minimum. So far only one boat (Zoom -- Non-Spin) has met the minimum, though four other boats have 5 or more races. Again, a few Sundays (sometimes two races on one day), and a fall regatta or two (at NBC or HRYRA at Shattemuc or Minisceongo) will put any boat in the running, in either division.
