From Jim Link & Pat McNichol:
02/02/14 - Southbury -- The Mew Gull was finally seen this afternoon
around 1:55 PM in a large flock of mostly Ring-billed Gulls and a few
Herring Gulls feeding in the pumpkin field behind the barns of the
farm at the intersection of River Road and Purchase Brook Road.  The
rain had just started and most other birders had left except 3 other
cars.

From Stefan Martin:
02/02/14 - Greenwich, Greenwich Point -- During our first Sunday Bird
walk Sunday morning I noticed a smaller, dusky faced Grebe in with a
group of Horned Grebes. It was noticeably smaller with very dark
cheeks and a different build. The bird was lost and then picked up
again and viewed by several others. After sending a few digiscoped
shots to numerous people, I am confident calling this bird an EARED
GREBE. The bird was seen off bluff point at about 10:15 this morning.
With much effort, I was unable to relocate the bird. 3:30 PM; Eared
Grebe relocated, seen from the Innis Arden Cottage.

From Ryan Maclean:
02/02/14 - Greenwich, Greenwich Point -- After hearing from Stefan
Martin about the Eared Grebe he found at Greenwich Point this morning,
I headed down there around 3 PM to try and relocate the bird. I
quickly re-found it after only a few minutes of scanning the sound
from the stone wall next to the Innis Arden Cottage. For those of you
unfamiliar with the Point, the I.A Cottage is the first building you
see on your left once you enter the Point, which also contains the
Bruce Museum Seaside Center. There's a small parking lot with a stone
wall infront of it immediately after the building where you can get
out and scan from the beach. The bird was relatively close to shore,
actively feeding in the cove with a bunch of Horned Grebes,
Red-Breasted Mergansers and Long-Tailed Ducks. I was surprised to find
it so far north of the original vantage point that it was seen from
this morning and I'd suspect that it moves around alot during the day.
So if you plan on making the trip to find it make sure you scan along
the sound from as many different points as you can if you initially
come up empty.

From Jeffrey Sonshine:
02/02/14 - Greenwich, Todds Point -- a flock of over 100 Snowy Bunting
in the morning.

From Phil Asprelli:
02/02/14 - ?????, North Farms Reservoir -- The Tundra Swan has
returned. Seen at 12:45 PM.

From James Purcell:
02/02/14 - Fairfield -- I thought it might be worth mentioning that
the male Barrow's Goldeneye is still here at Penfield Reef in
Fairfield and has never left. It's been exactly 7 weeks as of today.
I'm wondering how long this bird is actually going to stay... usually
the Common Goldeneye start to pull out in late February here.

From Amy Jarratt:
02/02/14 - Stratford, Duke Drive -- 2 PM; 3 Black Vulture,
Rough-legged Hawk.

From tephanie Stewart:
02/02/14 - Storrs, Horse Barn Hill Rd, back pastures -- Northern
Shrike chasing bluebirds and others.

From Mark Danforth with Steph and Duncan Stewart:
02/02/14 - Storrs, Horse barn Hill Road -- 2:45 PM; Northern Shrike
chasing a flock of about 50 Snow Buntings.  It was sitting at the top
of a large Maple tree on the East side of the hill toward the North
end of the pasture when I arrived. Moved around a bit from tree to
tree before chasing the Buntings. We were unable to relocate it after
that.  Thanks Steph and Duncan for the timely call!

From Frank and Linda Mantlik with Mike and Wanda Moccio:
02/02/14 - Stratford, Long Beach -- mid-afternoon; 2 SNOWY OWLS in
