I am not a USCG-inspected vessel, so they are out of the
picture. No surveyor (done every three years because of
misconceptions in the insurance industry about PROPERLY
built wooden boats) has ever given my fuel connections a
second thought. Who is ABYC (grin), and what do I care what
they think about a 30-year old boat?

I understood that the coasties and ABYC (and thus insurance
types) did not
like fuel feed from the bottom of the tank. Have I
mis-understood?

My understanding of the current standard is that
a. all fittings will enter the tank from the top
b. fuel will be drawn from the bottom of the tank
which implies and internal tube from the tank bottom to the fitting on the
top for the fuel line.
