SNIP " I have used a GARMIN 376C for about a year and a half.  This is a
small, waterproof unit with a 4" color display and internal GPS
antenna.  It is designed as a dual-mode marine/auto unit. It has the
capability to receive XM radio AND XM weather" Mike Loy

Mike - good thought. However assuming one doesn't want to run into the extra
cost of the XM weather every month - I am basically happy with the info I
get of VHF combined with internet access by wi-fi - then it would seem to me
the 276C would be a better buy and $200-300 cheaper? It has otherwise all
the same features - I think. For road use I gather that one would have to
purchase the City Navigator option to supplement the main highways?? Did you
do this? I also think that one has to buy separate chips for European
driving?

Unlike the Garmin Nuvi these units can use Bluecharts, but lack the nice
little MP3 player option. Jeez -- now if I could find a reasonably priced
unit that would do all three jobs - Road Navigation, Blue Charts on the
water and entertain me with audio books and music!!!
