As a follow-up to our conference call yesterday, one of the members mentioned their State having a provision allowing for police to take intoxicated persons directly to a detox facility, rather than having to book them into jail, and the detox center having authority to keep them for some specified time.
Herb - I thought it might have been you making those comments, but whoever it was, I would appreciate getting a cite to your State law.
And if anyone else has any ordinances or State laws that enable your officers to be able to do this without increases the risk of liability to your City, I would appreciate getting that information. A few hours after our conference call, I had the issue come up and wanted to find out more information on how this is being done in other States.
Thanks everyone! And have a great weekend!!!
