Mark, are you using a local plan, the America's choice plan or one of the data
plans. I used Verizon for internet access in the fall and it was great.  I am
confused however as the drawbacks of the Express Network for which their is an
unlimited $99 plan and the mobile link which is the non-express network. I
would prefer the Express Network but I have concerns about coverage.  The
mobile link does not have unlimited use but apparently you have unlimited
nights and weekends.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Marty,
I should have mentioned that my $40 a month Verizon plan is
called America's Choice 400.  I have no data plan (too expensive
for me).  The Express Network data plan is much faster, but has
limited availability, mostly in bigger cities.  Not much use for
a full-time cruiser like me.

The Mobile Link, which I use, is limited to a speed of 14.4 kbps,
which is slow.  Their Venturi compression software is supposed to
double this speed, but a bug in it won't let it work with my
phone yet.  The fix ix supposed to be in the mail.  Regular
airtime rates apply to Mobile Link data connection, which means
it comes out of my 400 anytime minutes if I connect during
weekdays, but is unlimited after 9PM and weekends.
