OK Levi,

Boats are toys for big boys (and big girls),

Yes, we are crazy to be messing about in boats - these
beautiful boxes that float.

But, so are people that pay good money to go to a resort
where it is 20 below and ski down a big hill and hit their
heads on pine trees and die!

And, what about those that fly around in airplanes and could
fall thousands of feet out the sky?  At least if we fall
out of our boats we are only a few feet above sea-level!

And, then there are those people who travel all over the world
just to hit a little white ball into the water or a sand-trap!

So, if you are going to be crazy - a trawler makes the
most comfortable and agreeable insane asylum
I can think of!

Subject: Am I crazy?

I've been lurking for some time now and am somewhat afraid to tell you
people in trawler world who I am.  So for now I won't.
I just wonder if I am crazy.  All my life I have wanted to sail around the
world.  I have no experience.  I took a course for a week [on a 36'
sailboat] two years ago.  My father had a 27' cabincruiser on the Ohio
River which i periodically used, but mainly I used my 18' ski boat on
weekends[this was 30 years ago].
Now I am 53 and my dream is still haunting me.  I feel like something is
pushing me and it seems to get stronger every day.  A year ago I noticed a
trawler for the first time while I was looking at sailboats.  It seemed
more doable and practicle to me.  I have read Voyaging Under Power.
So now I am looking to buy a seaworthy trawler to circumnagivate.  I know
I have alot to learn.  My plan is to buy, learn, and go....
.Wha'd ya think, am I crazy?
