Dear Sir or Madam,
I am reaching out because the applications for the National Archives and Records Administration’s (NARA) Voluntary Internship Program are now open. These are great opportunities that could be of interest to the students at your institution.
The National Archives is the U.S. Government’s collection of documents that records important events in American history. NARA is the Government agency that preserves and maintains these materials and makes them available for research. It is the nation's record keeper.
We are currently looking for students in the following fields:
· Archival Studies
· Computer Science
· Cultural Heritage
· Education
· History
· Law (Law School)
· Library and Information Science
· Museum Studies
· Records Management
A voluntary internship is an experience designed to complement formal academic training. Although internships at the National Archives are unpaid, they can be completed for academic credit or to meet internship (or service hours) requirements.
Internships are available across the country. They will last roughly ten weeks, and interns will average between 10 and 40 hours per week for a minimum of 100 hours. Summer interns will start in late May or early June and will end in August. Interns must be on-site at least 70 percent of the time. Interns will collaborate with their supervisors to determine their work schedules.
Learn more about the National Archives and Records Administrationhttps://www.archives.gov/about and about NARA’s voluntary internship programhttps://www.archives.gov/careers/internships/about.html.
The summer application deadline is March 8th, 2024.
