From John Wagenblatt:
10/26/13 - Torrington, Dogwood Drive, yard -- FOX SPARROW & PINE
SISKIN around most of the morning at feeders. At 4:00pm a SWAINSON's
HAWK caught my eye not much higher than the trees heading south. This
was my third for CT and my first for the yard.

From Robert Dixon:
10/26/13 - Sterling yard -- 1st winter male DICKCISSEL (third record
for feeders) observed and photographed at feeders in the morning,
continued throughout the day. Also PURPLE FINCH.

From Dan Rottino:
10/26/13 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 9:10 AM; I found an
adult LARK SPARROW adjacent to the playground area at the west end
with a large mixed flock of sparrows.  The sparrows were in the median
of the paved campground roads near a dumpster, and subsequently the
entire flock was spooked and flushed by a passing vehicle. I relocated
it in the field along with Jim Carr and Tom Halloway.  Great looks! 12
sparrow species including Nelson's Sparrow at East Beach restoration
marsh and Vesper Sparrow at the west end.

From Russ Smiley:
10/26/13 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 10:15 AM; LARK SPARROW
seen in west end camping area. Found earlier by Dan Rottino and
refound with Jim Carr.

From Mark Danforth and Brenda Anderson:
10/26/13 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- Lark Sparrow seen at
around 3:15, about  200 ft northeast of the playground with a mixed
flock of other sparrows. It may have flown back toward the brushy area
next to the playground. We had good looks at it.  Another birder named
Jake (Musser?) joined us and relocated it after we lost it behind a
cedar tree.

From Joseph Cala:
10/26/13 - Milford, Milford Point -- 7:30 to 9:00 AM; at the beginning
of the spit at least 30 Nelson's sparrows flying and foraging around.
Had a mostly even mix of nelsoni/alterus and subvirgatus.

From Paul Desjardins:
10/26/13 - Farmington, Batterson Pond -- Northern Shoveler, Fox
Sparrow.
Burlington, Sessions Woods -- 3 Winter Wrens.
Litchfield, White Memorial, Cemetery Pond -- 2 Northern Shovelers, 4
Northern Pintails.

From Michael Carpenter:
10/26/13 - Ridgefield, Bennett's Pond -- 3:30 to 5:30 PM; 11 Northern
Pintail, 2 Solitary Sandpiper, 1 Winter Wren.

From Fran Zygmont:
10/26/13 - East Hartland, Hayes Road x Rte 179 -- Purple Finch.

From Tina Green with AJ & Sue Hand:
10/26/13 - Canaan, Cobble Road -- 3 Fox Sparrows feeding together on
the side of the road.

From Cynthia Ehlinger:
10/26/13 - Old Greenwich, Greenwich Point Park -- BROWN CREEPER.
