I finally decided to refinish my cap and hand rails. I'm thinking of painting the cap rail and re-varnishing the hand rail. I've been looking at some of the two-part polyurethane varnishes and wonder if the list has any experience with them. I use Honey Teak and am very pleased with it. It's a bit tough to apply the first time, but wonderful afterwards. There is a base coat that is three component PU, then the clear top coat, also three component PU.
