Dear All,
We would like to bring to your attention the recent call for papers for our
conference on "Migrations in Mongol Eurasia: People, Ideas, Artifacts,"
which will take place at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in December
18-20, 2017, and will be the concluding event of the ERC-funded project
"Mobility, Empire and Cross-Cultural Contacts in Mongol Eurasia".
Please note that abstracts and proposals are due *March 15, 2017. *
We are particularly looking for papers on the following topics:
- Cimate, environment and migrations in Mongol and post-Mongol Eurasia
- Religious networks and migrations (e.g., Sufis, Sayyids, Shi'is,
Buddhists, missionaries, Armenians)
- Diasporas (religious, ethnic, trade) in Mongol Eurasia
- The migration and exchange of scientific knowledge (e.g., astronomy,
medicine, alchemy)
- Refugees in the Mongol Empire
- Commodities, trade, and migrations (porcelain, horses, cotton, etc.)
- Manuscript cultures on the move: Literary Networks in Mongol Eurasia
- Uyghur networks
- Regional migrations (in the empires' margins e.g., Anatolia; South East
Asia, Tibet, etc or inside each khanate)
- The transmission of political institutions and structures across Mongol
Eurasia (e.g, the court debate)
- Marriages as migrations
-Writing migrations, migrant writing
-Migrating memories of the Mongol Empire

Funding is still pending, but accommodation will be covered, and we're
