Just to let the List know how easy the process is these days. I sent 2
documents that I prepared on the CG website along with a copy of my state
registration and a check for $133 and got my documentation within 2 weeks.
This is on a 23 year old Trawler that was not built in the US and did not
have any builders hull identification.

Terry,
I find this very interesting as I used a professional Documentation
Service up in VA when I bought my boat back on Oct. 30, which is like 6
weeks ago and I still have not received my new documentation.
Based upon your comments I think I need to make a few phone calls?

Jim, I also used a documentation service, July/01. It was about 90 days
before I got the new documentation, which actually went back to the service
first. Though at closing the service did provide me their official "Running
Letter" which I had while operating before the doc arrived.

I had the same experience with the documentation folks. They return
calls instantly, are extremely helpful, and process the paperwork
quickly. Makes me proud to see a government agency work so effectively.
