Hi Jean et al,

I would guess that it's very unlikely that you had the CT Warbler there in August (Common Yellowthroat perhaps) although CT's probably do move earlier in the season than some suspect (note the Aug 23rd report from Albany NY). You'd certainly want photographs to prove a record like that.

Also wondering about the reported waterthrush up there. It seems exceptionally late for Louisiana - did anyone get photographs of that bird, or is it possibly just a Northern?

I agree with Luke about the CT. And while some CTs do indeed move in August (I have seen a migrant in New Hampshire's White Mountains in August) they are pretty much just adults that move that early. The CT in question is exhibiting a very unusual behavior in hanging around the way it has, a very much "immature" behavior, but surprising even for a youngster to hang around this long!

Hi Luke,
I was there Tuesday 9/25 with several others. We saw a Northern Waterthush several times in the small floodplain spot where there's a fallen tree lying on the mud (near where we had the CT Warbler).  I too would be surprised if a Louisiana Waterthrush is lingering here this late in the season, as most migrate south very early (July- early August) after breeding. Did anyone reporting LA obtain any photos?
And I agree that this immature male CT Warbler is staying an abnormally long time in one place, but to the delight of many birders!  The species is usually not "chase-able" during migration.
