How did a nice guy like you get hooked up with a bunch of geeks in Ohio, then? I'll admit that my own history is a bit checkered. I was minding my own business working at a small company in Ann Arbor in 1975, when I decided to reinstate my lapsed ham license and joined the ARROW group in Ann Arbor. This led to me becoming the "technical director" of the group and to making friends with Blake Arnold. He enticed me into leaving my job and joining ERIM (Environmental Research of Mich) in early 1978, and it was at about the same time that Daun moved into the SE Mich area and Blake introduced us to each other. With Daun and I both being hams *and* pilots it did not take us very long to become fast friends. And some 25 years later Daun introduced me to LWTG, and so here I am for better or worse. Daun and I were some- what "estranged" for quite some time in the middle because we worked for competitors (TEK for me, HP for Daun), and on closely-related product areas.
