Email received from Diesel Duck, a 41-foot Buehler design built by her owners:

Hi Georgs,

Our Diesel Duck 41 is in Ecuador.  Benno and I transited the Panama
Canal in July of this year and are moving along the coast of South
America toward Chile, where we'd like to spend Christmas in Valdivia.
Next week we will fly to Toronto for a couple of weeks to attend our
son's wedding.

The SSCA (Seven Seas Cruising Association)
http://www.ssca.orgwww.ssca.org has now a Trawler Committee.  Over
the years the SSCA has seen a trend of the baby boomer members,
including us, switching from sail to power for various reasons.  In a
quick search of the SSCA membership, we found 26 Nordhavns, 11
Krogens and 5 Diesel Ducks.  This doesn't look like a lot, but
overall from 6,000 members, there are more than 250 power boats.
There is still a good market for more boats, especially LRC trawlers
in this group.  We are members of the Trawler Committee, a small
group to serve the trawlers and voice the trawler interest.  Benno
and I joined the SSCA in 1979 and became commodores in 85.

It would be very nice, if you could advise the members of your
"Passagemaking under Power List" and your "Trawlers and Trawlering
List" in the news that the SSCA http://www.ssca.orgwww.ssca.org has
now a Trawler Committee.  This could as well make a good story for
your "Power Cruising" magazine.  At the upcoming SSCA Melbourne Gam
Dec. 4-7 in Florida, with all the seminars and attendants of over
1,000 sailors power or sail, Nordhavn has a booth.  This is a great
place for exposure and attention.  In any case, if there is interest
for a booth, the contact person is Doug Moody at
mailto:sbi@sbimailservice.comsbi@sbimailservice.com  This year
Jimmy Cornell is one of the speakers.

We will keep you posted with our travel down the coast toward
Patagonia and mail our travel letter just before Christmas.
Benno and I will work in the interest of the SSCA Trawler Committee
and of course promote the Diesel Ducks wherever we go.

Best Regards,
Marlene and Benno Klopfer

P.S.
Anyone can join the SSCA as an Associate Member.  You don't have to
own a boat.  Associates can serve on committees and even be elected
to the board.  3 of 7 board members may be Associates.
