BEST WISHES FOR A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL EVENT...
... to all Gators who are racing or training this weekend!
This "weekend" includes 8 athletes competing on Saturday, Sunday, and next
Tuesday! Events include two triathlon distances (get your IRONMAN trackers
ready!), mountain biking, and open water swimming across New Jersey,
Virginia, and Pennsylvania!
Before we get to our start list, here are a few notes and our weekend
workout schedule...
Thursday Night Socials: Last night we had a post-ride get together for the
5th consecutive week. If you join us for a Thursday night ride, there is a
good chance that we'll be meeting at a local establishment afterwards,
typically around 8:15pm-10pm, to share a beverage, some food, and some good
laughs and discussion. So far we've visited Lock 29 (3 times), the TBD Bar,
and last night Stable 12. Feel free to join us any time and this includes
just attending the social, just attending the ride, or both!
Gators Surf & Turf Club Badge logging: Just a reminder to log your
accomplishment any time you earn a new badge (or baked potato topping). To
date we have 95 badges and toppings logged, but there are likely many
completed activities that have not yet been logged. Here's the post where
you can check off your accomplishments...

"Do I need an outdoor pool pass??" This question has come up multiple times
recently. Is it necessary to purchase an outdoor pool pass to participate
in Gators club workouts. The answer is an emphatic "No". The Y plans to
keep the indoor pool open all summer, including during our five weekly
scheduled workouts, so we will be swimming indoors the same as in the fall,
winter, and spring. If there is ever a need or opportunity to swim
outdoors, we'll be able to do so without a pass. If this does occur it
would most likely be outside of the usual outdoor pool complex hours and it
will be announced well in advance.
Weekend Workouts: We have three workout options over the weekend...

Weekend Events: So, who's doing what? As always, if your name is missing
from our best wishes list, PLEEEASE post a comment so that we can send Good
Gator Vibes your way!
Saturday, June 3:
• DQ Jersey Genesis Triathlon (Port Republic, NJ): Maureen Hoffman will be
representing the Gators in the Sprint Triathlon at this event that takes
place near Atlantic City. Go Maureen!
Sunday, June 4:
• IRONMAN 70.3 Virginia's Blue Ridge (Roanoke, VA): Dust off your IM
trackers, we have our first IRONMAN event participant for 2023! Ginny
Angus continues her buildup to IRONMAN Lake Placid (late July) by taking on
this event that includes a reservoir swim, a hilly bike course (includes
about 4,000 feet of elevation gain with part of it being a 5 mile climb!),
and what's described as a "flat" run course that happens to include about
400 feet of climbing and most of it is in the second half. Go Ginny!
• Bear Creek Challenge MTB Race (Macungie, PA): This event takes place at
Bear Creek Resort and features Gator Chris Townsley transitioning to his
mountain bike. Go Chris!
Tuesday, June 6:
• CLUB/SPONSOR EVENT: French Creek Racing's OWS Race #2 (Norristown, PA):
The second event in this six race summer series features 1/2 mile and 1
mile options. At last count there are 5 Gators on our start list all
taking on the half mile challenge including Chris Acosta, Kristie Bruno,
Jennifer Gehret, Don Mack, and David Stone. If you'd like to join in on
the fun, which may include an option to mix in a short 5 mile bike ride
back and forth between the event venue and the Reynolds Dog Park (prior to
the weekly Gators Tuesday night intervals ride), you can register (using
our club discount) through French Creek Racing's website. Go Chris,
Kristie, Jennifer, Don, and David!
Have fun, Gator Done, then drink a beer! 💚BK🍺
