I am researching areas to base a trawler from. My plans would be to rent a small house and eventually purchase a trawler. Can anyone comment on this idea? Are there interesting places to visit on your trawler if your home base is Jacksonville? I'm looking for a place that has low cost of living and ideally some urban amenities. I'm using whole foods as a measure -- if there is a whole foods in the general area then I probably would enjoy that community. Thanks in advance, Rob

Jacksonville of course is a large metropolitan area. There are Whole Food stores. Living in JAX area allows access to the wonderful St. John’s River, north and south on the ICW. There are many places along the east and west coast of Florida that allow wonderful trawler cruising and the amenities you seek. Some more (much more) expensive than others. Suggestion is to figure out your budget and where you want to cruise. Go there for some time and check it out. Amenities and conveniences that may appear to one may not be shared by another.
