From Bev Propen  1/2

Orange

I have had 2 sick house sparrows at my feeders  the  past few days.  One male
had his head feathers all ruffled, his neck  stretching out  and shaking his
head.  He pushed his head back &  forth over the seeds in the feeder, spilling
most of it.  The sick female  sparrow also had ruffled head feathers and one
eye  glassy looking.  Today I found the female house sparrow dead on my back
porch next to the slider  door.  She was very thin, all her feathers ratty
looking and her left eye  lid very red.
I have been cleaning & changing my feeders.  Several  years ago I had 2 dead
sparrows in my yard.  I sent one of the bodies to  UCONN and I was informed
that it died of salmonella.  I was told to clear  all the seed under the
feeders, and bleach the ground and feeders.
so I am making sure to do that again now.  I don't know  if it is salmonella
again.
Has anyone else had anything  similar?
