Bob,
In 2004, there was a pretty much similar thread of responses to Xantrex
and listees experience with warranty work/repairs. Basically, they do
not repair their equipment and they give very poor customer service on
defects that occur during the warranty period. You can forget about
fixing the unit once it is out of warranty! The cost more than a new one.

For that reason, I chose a TrippLite inverter/charger that I purchased
from Sun Electronics in Miami. (You can find them on the web.)

They carry many brands and sizes of inverter/chargers, and have perhaps
the best selection you could want. They also sell refurb units which
come with their warranty as well as the manufacturer's.

Sun immediately made good on a minor shipping problem (wrong remote
display for my unit, an APS 2012). Later, when the electrician
installing the unit on my boat blew out a diode, TrippLite immediately
replaced the entire unit - no questions asked, and shipped me the
replacement at their expense. This is the kind of customer service you
should get when you pay almost $2k for a piece of equipment.

If more people boycotted vendors that didn't honor their warranties, we
would remove some of their power to dominate the inverter market. Hope
you buy another brand. - Martin Veiner
