Circumnavigator Champion for sale
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Champion, the 52-foot custom design by William Lapworth that was the
first trawler yacht to circumnavigate the world, is for sale in the
Chesapeake.
Larry Briggs had Champion built in 1959 and took her around in
1977-80. Briggs went on the voyage around the world three more times
in other powerboats. He is currently (February 2010) somewhere
between Hawaii and Malaysia aboard Neptune's Chariot on what could
be his fifth circumnavigation.
Trawlers & Trawlering has a feature presentation in the works on
Briggs, truly a passagemaker beyond compare.
