Apparently, some of you missed the call. If you did, I am sorry. I
know Marion Radson will be following up with some of the highlights. I
hope as many of you as possible can make the DC Seminar in April (see
below for dates). We will have time set aside from 10:30 to noon on
April 19 for this group to meet, network and share ideas. We look
forward to having a presentation at the Annual Conference in Miami and
if any of you have suggestions or an interest in volunteering for that
duty - please let us know. I am taking the liberty of writing this,
instead of Marion, because I am getting some emails from our conference
call server showing that some of you called in late and missed the call.
I hope to see you in DC and look forward to facilitating this group as
you face some very interesting issues. Chuck

IMLA 2010 Seminar - Wash. DC April 18-20
IMLA 2010 75th Anniversary Conference - San Francisco October 10-13,

IMLA 2011- Chicago Sept. 11-14, 2011
The first organizational teleconference was held this afternoon.
Participants were Wayne Karplus, Normal, Illinois; Abbie Elias, Ann
Arbor, Michigan; Brad Cunningham, Lexington, South Carolina; Dick
Benson, Wooster, Ohio; Chuck Thompson, Executive Director IMLA and the
undersigned.
Each participant expressed their shared interests and concerns serving
as attorneys in cities with colleges or universities that create impacts
on the local government. For example, some participants expressed
concerns about student parties, student rental of single-family homes,
university development that does not meet city codes or regulations and
the use of right-of-way by universities.
The participants agreed to meet in a roundtable setting at the IMLA
Mid-Year meeting in Washington, DC on Sunday, April 19th at 10:30 a.m. -
12:00 p.m. Please join us and be prepared to share your concerns and
solutions that your city/county/local government has used to address
town/gown issues.
If you are able to attend this Mid-Year meeting on Sunday, please reply
so that we can determine the number of participants who will be present
at the meeting.
Thanks to Chuck Thompson for bringing us together. Looking forward to
hearing from you.
