George and Jeanne,
We too were concerned about the availability of water between Puget
Sound and Skagway. We had the same 200 gallon capacity as you have
and two people. We made the trip last year. Enroute we anchored out for
many days at a time in the numerous fjords. We made the trip to Skagway
fairly easily by filling our tanks at every opportunity, but we were
careful with our water use.
Before we left I rigged up a gravity device to use to fill the tanks from the
mountain streams along the way. It would have worked very well as the streams
were very steep right down to the salt water. Never used my device as
there are a lot of places to fill up. Some of the streams
were waterfalls hundreds of feet high where you can wash your boat
and yourself, if so inclined, free of charge by driving under them.
In Bella Bella (Shearwater) the water was brownish color but quite drinkable.
There's no need for a watermaker that we can see.
