Query about Vectron C6300

Does anyone have any documentation for the Vectron C6300 Eval Kit?  I haven't been able to find anything...

More information on the unit:

Model MD-010-0005
ID # 23720212
OM FW Version FW
Test Software V2.0.5

It has "Ext Ref" and "1 PPS" jacks on the rear. Hooking up a 5071A 10 MHz to the "Ext Ref", the lock light eventually comes on.

By guess is that it is using the external reference to discipline an internal oscillator. I haven't measured the phase noise to see if the output is better than the input...

Thanks-
Jim

Hi

Might look at:

https://datasheet.octopart.com/MD-0104-BXJ-DOCX-10M0000-Vectron-datasheet-10316008.pdf

and see if it looks similar to what you have.

If so, that’s a 20+ year old design.

Hi,

One wonders if this could chew sawtooth corrections and also what PPS
time-stamping resolution it has.

Back when these where developed, many vendors was offering similar
products, some which you could assume was better made than others. Me
being obnoxious I kept doing these designs inhouse because what we where
doing was not fitting a standard scheme. We still do not match that,
even if I do a standard out of what we have done. Ah well, the other way
around. :)

With a better oscillator, this can be very useful.

Cheers,
Magnus

Nope, this came out well before that “era”.

and also what PPS time-stamping resolution it has.

It depends a bit on which rev of the hardware / firmware it is. 10’s of ns on the counter and a basic analog approximation past that. The design dates to just past “the turn of the century”. The grubby details are going to be very hard to dig up.

Yeah, and we have yet to leave it. I have had to educate on it twice
only last week.

But OK, then I know.

Ah. Been there, done that, prepared option for higher resolution but
ended up not having time and need to dig deeper in that product.

Cheers,
Magnus
