Oil Filter Position

When I change the oil I punch a hole in the top of my horizontally mounted
filter, place a pan under the filter and loosen the filter 1/2 turn to put the
hole down.  I take a break and get something to drink.  By the time I'm done,
so is the filter.

BTW, one of the handiest tips I've ever been shown is to cut the side out of
an empty one gallon oil container to use as a drip pan.  I leave the top
screwed in place until I need to empty the pan.  Handy as hell, fits almost
everywhere and, best of all, it was free!
