Dear Colleagues,

Please join me in welcoming Jewel Chen (Chen Yunju mirranda0223@gmail.com ) to the listserv.  Below is her self-introduction:

I am a Ph.D. student in Oriental Studies at the University of Oxford. My research interest has focused on the history of medicine in pre-modern China since my MA study. My doctoral research is examining how relations between environment and health were framed in a pre-modern Chinese way; more specifically, which and how the ecological factors in the southern environment were assigned to explain pathogenic sources of prevailing diseases during the tenth to thirteenth centuries in China.

On a separate note, I promised I would give people a month to look at the draft of the by-laws and send comments.  The month is almost up:  if you have any comments, please let me know, since I want to consult a lawyer and get the non-profit status of the society settled.  This is why we need the by-laws.

Yours truly,

Michael
