Missing "scpi> " prompt on KS-24361

I had things setup so one J6 went to ntpd and the other went to a hack that
logged some data and displayed an occasional status screen.

Then I had a power failure.

One side came back OK.  The other was sending some junk every second and
ignoring what I sent to it.

I found an old message that covered part of the problem.

I can now talk to it and it does what I expect.  Except that I don't get any
"scpi> " prompt to tell me when it is ready.  I tried resetting to factory
defaults.  Is there another command that I'm missing?
