North Channel service

We are planning on spending a good part of the

summer
in the North Channel.

Hi - Georgian Bay and the North Channel are my home
waters. Celphone access in that area is through Bell
Mobility and Cantel, both Canadian providers.
Service can be patchy or poor on the water,
particularly in areas with high ground, such as
Killarney and Baie Finn. As you move further west into
the more remote areas, your proximity to the Trans
Canada Highway and the cel sites there determines your
phone access.
Getting ashore and on top of a hill will often improve
reception. You'll find that your signal changes even
as you swing on the hook!
I don't know what access Verizon has in Canadian
waters - but Pam, at Canadian Yacht Charters in Gore
Bay tells me that most of their clients contact her by
celphone while out on the water if they need
assistance, so the situation can't be too dire.
Hope this helps.
