I replaced my 6-354.  After 30 years and 4000 hours, it needed a top
end overhaul and injector system overhaul.  The cost approximated the
down payment on a Cummins 6BT, and no guarantee the Perkins would be
any better.  I also got a modern injection system, new engine
guarantee and no worries about modern fuel blends.

On top of everything else, I had a counterclockwise engine.  No, zero,
none nowhere water pumps.  So I bit the bullet.  Cummins is quieter
and smoother than the Perkins.  Some smoke on startup but a block
heater should cure that.  It is a lighter engine as well.  The turbo
is nice--eliminates smoke once the engine is started.  All maintenance
is on the port side of the motor, so I don't have to crawl over it to
do routine maintenance.

Contact me if you have any questions.
