William,
I'm currently in the throes of having a Norcold repaired. So far, it's been
7 weeks trying to get a replacement thermistor and cable! I'm not impressed
with the support from the folks at Norcold.
I'd recommend you take a walk through the appliance section of your local
Home Depot and/or Best Buy and see what's available in smaller refrigerators.
There's really a wide selection out there. Cost of a 110 volt refrigerator
and an inverter to run it should be a lot less than a dedicated dual electric
marine (RV) unit.

I replaced my "never-cold" DE-728 with 8 golfcart batteries, a Freedom
2500 inverter and a Sears apartment sized refrigerator 8 years ago, and
still had money left over compared to what they wanted for the new
replacement unit.

Hello All,
I have been investigating the refrigeration issue and have found that at the
Walmart website, they have a unit that will fit into the Norcold opening and
is about 1/3 the price. It is AC only, but a small dedicated inverter could
solve that. The mfg. is "Haier", and I found their website
http://haier.com/english/product/index.asp. They have a wide variety of
appliances. One of my dock neighbors recently bought one of the units from
Walmart and is really pleased with it. They are only available from the
website as I understand it. No connection.
