(snip)
I have decided to rescind the sale of Twin Screws.  Although it is a huge
project that may require that I spend the rest of my life trying to
complete, the dream lives on.
(endsnip)

Bravo! More power to you! There is great pleasure in creating the boat of
your dreams, not just using her. Besides, we have to watch out for the older
boats . . . we have the last of them you know . . . none of the current
production boats is going to make her 40th birthday . . . unless she spends
35 of those years under cover and shrink wrapped in the Arizona desert . . .

(snip)
For those of you that have on going projects, I suspect you either have
faced uncertainty or you will multiple times before you are done.
(endsnip)

Yes . . . and overcoming that is part of the adventure, part of the
strength.

(snip)
I continue to find, after two years into the project, that it takes
incredible perseverance and there are many challenges to endure....
(endsnip)

There are many challanges. It has been interesting to me to find that (in my
case at least) all of the serious challanges are external . . . the work on
the boat is easy, just requires sweat, muscle, blood . . . but external
influneces seem to conspire to keep me away from the work . . . my paying
job, typical life events, broken cars and such.

As a (responsible) male I find that life tends to squeeze out all of the
things that are important to me, in favor of other people's problems and
trivial obligations. Eventually all that is important is gone. When you
begin to squirm . . . to try to get back some of the things that define who
you are, many of the people you care about suddenly think you are a selfish
bastard.

I recently reached that point . . . have an interesting story that I will
post on my website when done about my journey to and back from this
juxeposition.

(snip)
So if you see a big old boat that looks like it should be in the yard
instead of on the water.....it's probably me.
(endsnip)

That's called a boat with "character"!!

Mine has character too . . . but she won't float. But that's another story.
