NavTex Weather Receivers

Hi!
Seems like NavTex weather receivers while NOT the rage in US waters,
appears to be a very useful receiver to have in "other-than-American"
waters.

So, if any of you have one, and have an informed opinion about which
one might be best for me and my situation, easiest to use, etc etc
etc, please let me know.

The unit will go on a 50'+ steel RPH trawler which the Admiral and I
will cruise the east med first. I have tried to find some info (like a
boating magazine testing them) and have come up short.

Weather forecasts here are not as detailed as they are in the US, and
frankly, they are sometimes just so darn wrong my guess is the
forecaster failed to look out the window.

I know about GRIB files and weather faxes, but it would appear that to
make life easier, a stand alone unit with it own screen might make
some sense. It would also allow the Admiral to use it, and while I
love her dearly, she is just not into anything more complicated than a
device with just an on/off switch and a few more buttons..

I also know that i could buy a device that allows the Navtex broadcast
to be fed into a computer but as a mac guy, I do not want to futz
around trying to get a windows product to work.

I also do not want to put all my "eggs" into one [computer] basket.

So, private replies are welcomed and can summarize what I learned to
the list if there is a demand...
