Hey birders.

Today's Jaeger watch yeilded the following between about 1:15pm and 4:30pm:

Great Blue Heron - 1

Peregrine Falcon (adult) - 1

Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1

Red-necked Grebe - 1

White-winged Scoter - many (hundreds) far out on lake

Sanderling - 1

Sandpiper sp. (phalaropes?) - 5

Bonaparte's Gull - 1

Long-tailed Jaeger - 1 prob. bird being chased by a larger prob. Parasitic Jaeger in late afternoon.  This was at extreme distance!

Parasitic Jaeger - 1 light morph adultish (no way to confirm this at the distance seen) bird showing two relatively long pin-shaped central tail feathers.

Many more light and dark jaegers were seen about 2.5 times the distance of the yellow tower, some even coming close enough to show some color (browns and whites!) but never well enough for species ID.  Our best guesses for most of these were more Parasitics.

Winds seemed to always have an easterly component but were rather mild and other than the single Parasitic, were generally not enough to send the jaegers in for close up viewing.

Directions to Van Wagners Beach: Take the Centennial Parkway (Hwy.20) exit
from the QEW in east Hamilton and proceed north to the North Service Rd.,
turn left and continue west as it turns into Van Wagners Beach Road. Park at
Hutch's Restaurant.

Hey birders.
This morning at around 10 am, I had a swallow fly by that was either a cliff or cave swallow. Lighting was poor, and it was 400-500 m out over Lake Ontario, flying West towards Port Credit.
I also saw 5 horned larks and 6 snow buntings that flew in off the lake. 1 female black scoter (which is a good bird, its the first time I've seen it from this park) was on the lake with lots of common loons. All of this was seen from the south point of Col. Sam Smith park. (at the bottom of kippling Ave in Etobicoke).

Hey Birders,
I just had three golden eagles fly over Leslie street spit, towards high park. If anyone is quick on their toes, they may be able to see them fly over. This was around 4:50 pm.
