The NORTHERN GANNET was present this afternoon flying over Hamilton Harbour at
Dofasco.  From Pier 26, looking westward towards the Dofasco sign and cranes
as previously reported, I saw it at 3:10 pm flying south from Hamilton Bay and
up the next waterway to the west, not the one that I was parked overlooking.
I thought it would reach the end of that small waterway and turn around so
that I would see it again but I didn't.

At 3:20 pm the immature BALD EAGLE (also reported earlier) flew over Pier 26
for about 10 minutes and then headed towards the Skyway Bridge.

DIRECTIONS:

From Burlington, take the QEW to Eastport Drive.  Follow Eastport past the

Tollgate Ponds to the next driveway, which is marked Pier 26.  Drive into the
gravelled parking area facing west over the water and look in all directions.
I only waited 20 minutes before I saw the Gannet flying in the distance beyond
the big Dofasco sign.
Note:  in the afternoon, if the sun is shining, it is difficult to search for
the Gannet from this vantage point.  Fortunately for me the clouds blocked the
sun just at the right time.
