The email below was sent to all IMHGA members on 10/17.  If you are an IHMGA member, you may have already received it.  It is so important I am resending it to all Road-Dawgs including those who are not IH members. The IH Men’s CLUB needs our members’ participation.  I am hoping our members can help by participating in this tournament.  If you are not an IH Men’s Club member and want to play, let me know and we will find you an IH member to play with.  This is going to be really fun…………..  This is really important to our Tournament schedule for this to work (see Fri Oct 17 email below).  It will be fun for the members and give our guest players a great experience playing at the Hill…………If you have any questions call me 562-900-6556.  Please let me know (YES or NO) if you will be playing ASAP.  Thank you.  Mike Shaw ---  shawbird15@gmail.com

Subject: New January Men's Club tournament

We issued the 2015 Schedule of Tournaments for the Men’s Club recently. One of the big changes is in the first event. We are planning a two-day, Member/Guest Match Play event. A draft rules sheet for the event is attached so that you can see what we’re planning. This event, however, will only take place if we have enough teams. Dave Youpa has promised us the entire course for each day of the tournament, but only if we have enough players, so that he doesn’t take a beating on his weekend revenue. We need to show Dave that we can field an event with a minimum of 40 teams. That’s 40 members of the Industry Hills Men’s Club, and 40 players who are their guests, and not members of the Industry Hills Men’s Club. There will be no Member/Member teams. We need to know now if we can field that many teams; we can’t wait until Christmas. We are asking you if you can give your commitment to find a guest and participate in the tournament. Right now, we need a 90% commitment. 90% doesn’t mean you think you will be there,  or you would like to be there. 90% says that, barring illness or injury, you will be there. If we can’t get 40 teams, we will probably have to cancel the event and substitute it with another (non-guest) format. We would appreciate your response, positive or negative, by November 1.

Here’s where we are at this time:

-The New Mem/Guest is scheduled for Jan 10 and 11.

-Cost:  apprx $400 per team

-Optional Buyin:  apprx $80 per team

-Start time:  8:00 both days

-White Tees

-Guests must have an active Handicap Index GHIN #

Suggested Rules for the 2015 Member/Guest Two-Day Match Play Tournament

The teams are made up of one member of IHMGA and one non-member. Each player will play at his 12-month Low Index.

Each flight will contain six teams. The number of flights will be determined by the number of entries. If there are teams left over, the Committee will decide if one or more four-team flights will be acceptable. All six-team flights will play five matches, three on the first day, and two on the second day, in the following format:

Each match will be nine-holes of Better Ball Match Play. All nine holes will be played in each match, and all matches in each flight will be played on the same nine holes. If a match starts on Hole #15, the players will play holes 15-18, and 10-14. If a match starts on Hole #6, the players will play holes 6-9, and 1-5.

Each team is competing for points to make the playoff on Day 2. The matches will be scored as follows:

                    1 point for the team winning the hole

½ point to each team for tying a hole

At the end of the matches, the team with the most points will advance to the playoffs. In the event of a tie among teams within a flight, the following tie-breakers will be used (in order):

                    Most winning matches

                    Head to head scores between the tying teams

                    Chip-off

The playoffs will be held over holes 15-18 on the Zaharias Course. The scoring will be Better Ball / Modified Stableford, as follows:

Net double bogie          =          0 points

Net bogie                      =          2 points

Net par                        =          3 points

Net birdie                      =          5 points

Net eagle                      =          8 points

Net double eagle          =          11 points

In the event of a tie for any of the first four places in the playoff, there will be a chip-off on hole #18.
