Fellow Trawler Owners,
I recall a similar mission to obtain a Globe Run Dry impeller for my Reverso oil changer in 2011.After a weekday call to parts at Reverso, I received a call from the owner Saturday morning inquiring as to my satisfaction from the earlier interaction. I explained my desire to make the oil change process more dependable by obtaining a Globe Run Dry Impellor and he said, “I’m having a sale on my gear driven pumps this week. Why don’t you return your current REVERSO and parts and upgrade to the Gear Reverso model XXX which was several hundred dollars more. I made the deal and have never regretted seamless oil changes with the midline unit. I honestly don’t know why they even sell the impeller models, especially to high end yacht builders( or why they spec them?) because the nature of the process is to run the low each time it’s used. The gear driven REVERSO was an exact swap space wise with all connections in the same place. I later recognized the pump as a MARCO UP/6E? And started using them for my domestic water pumps. The first MARCO UP6E lasted five years, but I just changed out the second one after two years. So far the REVERSO oil changer has worked flawlessly( knock on wood).

There ya go, David! Just like I been sayin'. I looked back at my records and find that it cost me $160 to swap over to the Marco M164-220-12 gear pump in August last year. So what? It's a boat - stuff costs money for 'em. No further aggravation over wondering about dependability of those flippin' impellers in the middle of an oil change - priceless. 😊 For all you XChangR impeller pumpers, come over to the dark side; we have cookies.
