Prof. Virag provides the following description:

"We are inviting applications for a 3-year Post-doctoral Research Fellow position in middle-period (Tang-Song) Chinese intellectual/cultural history, with expertise in the history of education and classicizing learning. The position is part of the ERC-funded project, 'Classicising learning in medieval imperial systems: Cross-cultural approaches to Byzantine paideia and Tang/Song xue' (PAIXUE),' which I am running jointly with my Byzantinist colleague in Edinburgh, Prof. Niels Gaul. Given the nature of our project, we are looking for someone with strong interest in comparative/cross-cultural studies, and a willingness to engage in the study of Byzantine thought and learned culture, as well as to collaborate with a Byzantinist team-member. The position runs from August 2018 to July 2021 and is based in Edinburgh. The closing date is 14th February 2018."
