Garrett and All,

I once used a more robust method - a 4" PVC pipe coupling with a screw-in
plug. Using a portable 4" grinder, I shaped the coupling to match the sloped
conture of the hull, and used 5200 to glue it in, and filled it with mineral
oil. Mounted the transducer in the plug and drilled a hole off to the side
for a self tapping screw with a rubber washer under it (this was an air
vent). I put the plug into the coupling and then tightened the vent screw.
This lasted about 10 years. Due to the ~35 degree slope of the hull, I could
not just glue the transducer into the boat. The reason for the 5200 - this
was supposed to be a temporary installation, but worked so well, I just left
it.

I once bought a Hinterhoeller 25 with exactly that installation.
Wonder if it was yours?
Nah, not likely because after about a year the oil leaked out and I
had to re-glue the PVC pipe - and that couldn't have happened with
5200, eh?

P.s: For fluid I used mineral oil "USP heavy" from the drugstore
(that's laxative for most people).
