[Ontbirds] Long Point Update to May 10.

Ontbirders,

Bird activity at Long Point as been similar to the daily reports coming out
of other locations in south-western Ontario, except with its own brand of
goodies (summarized below). A summary can also be viewed on the Long Point
Bird Observatory Sightings Board at www.birdscanada.org/LPBO . The best
source for up to date sightings can be found by searching the Norfolk County
Alerts at www.ebird.ca . The Old Cut Research Station is open daily until
noon where you can experience migratory bird research in action, learn about
local sightings and share you observations with others.

This coming weekend is the Long Point Birdathon weekend for those
participating in the Baillie Birdathon raising funds for bird conservation

Long-billed Dowitcher - two at the Port Royal Flats on May 8

Lesser Black-backed Gull - second-cycle individual observed sporadically at
the Tip

Iceland Gull - first-cycle individual observed sporadically along the south
shore, at Breakwater and the Tip

Glaucous Gull - first cycle individual observed sporadically at the Tip

Arctic Tern - one individual at the Tip May 2, two on May 4

Chuck-wills Widow - one heard at the Tip May 3

31 species of warbler - most observable at the base of Long Point and in the
mainland forests

Worm-eating Warbler - one singing male at Burwell Tract May 4

Harris's Sparrow - one on Courtright Ridge May 2, one at the Tip May 4, one
banded at Breakwater May 8

Lark Sparrow - One at the Tip and a the Long Point Provincial Park May 9

Le Conte's Sparrow - one at the Tip May 4
