Dear Connecticut Birders,
Wow, are you impressive! Despite the blistering cold, we already have many birders participating in our Hartford County Big January of Birding. There are quite a few folks who already have exceeded the 60 species minimum for an adult certificate, and it looks like we have quite a few more teens and youths than in past years -- so exciting. Notable birds so far include a red-headed woodpecker, yellow-rumped warbler, winter wren, red-shouldered hawk, bufflehead, and that elusive pink-footed goose (eluding me, at least).
I encourage you to share your finds with others so we all can enjoy the birds in this cold and windy passion of ours. And if you're not using eBird, please remember to send me your lists at the end of the month.
Happy birding! I'm going after that goose again...
