From Patrick Comins:
01/30/14 - Southbury -- Mew Gull on the Housatonic, from River Road,
just east of the intersection with Purchase Brook Road.  The flock
moves around quite a bit.  At times the gulls have been feeding or
roosting in the fields on either side of Purchase Brook Road at
Mitchell Farm.  Please do not trespass on Mitchell Farm, or get out of
cars on River Road west of intersection with Purchase Brook (signs
posted to remain in vehicle).  Traffic on River Road can travel fast.
Bring a scope and some eye drops, and maybe some Tylenol; it doesn't
exactly stand out like a sore thumb.

From Paul Cianfaglione:
01/30/14 - Farmington, Riverside Cemetery -- 1 CACKLING GOOSE.

From Bill Banks:
01/30/14 - Milford, Silver Sands State Park -- Eastern Meadowlark
continues on second sparrow lane.
Stratford, Sikorsky Airport -- 10:45 AM; Snowy Owl out on runway near
"K" 11-29 red marker from observation lookout area.
Birdseye Boat ramp -- With Greg Hanisek; 2 Wilson's Snipe at end of
guardrail near outfall.

From Frank Mantlik:
01/30/14 - Stratford, Long Beach - 2 SNOWY OWLS (and 1 Red Fox) in
Great Meadows salt marsh.

From David Lawton:
01/30/14 - Farmington, Riverside Cemetery -- Drake Redhead.

From Mike VanValen:
01/30/14 - Norwalk -- 1 Common Raven flying towards the Woods
Pond/Fourteen Acre Pond area (with American Crows) around 1:30 PM.

From Gil Salk:
01/30/14 - Hebron -- Single Black Vulture crossing Rt 85 near Gilead
Hill School at about 1:00 PM.

From Paul Desjardins:
01/30/14 - Wallingford, North Farms Reservoir -- 7:50 AM; Tundra Swan.
Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- afternoon;  9 Snow Buntings and 2
Lapland Longspurs near nature center and Fox Sparrow along edge of
woods near cedar island.
Stratford, Short Beach -- morning; at least 26 Snow Buntings.

From John Oshlick:
01/30/14 - Stratford, Birdseye Boat Ramp -- 1 Red-necked Grebe swam up
the river. It was still present at dusk when I left but far up river.
Also 1 American Pippit, and a Snowy Owl across the river on an osprey
platform.

From Mike Warner:
01/30/14 - Stratford, Birdseye Boat Ramp -- Around 2:30 PM I saw a
Red-necked Grebe less than 100 feet off the Birdseye boatramp
shoreline, diving and feeding as the outgoing tide carried it down
river.  I relocated to Beacon Point Road and after a shortwhile it
came into view doing the same until I lost sight of it behind the rock
jetty.  Also seen, Wilson's Snipe.
