For only, maybe, the fifth time in five years, I have terminated a
subscription.

It's your house, you built it.  When you invite your friends and neighbors
in, it's a mixed bag of folks.  Some may be high school or college age, and
they sometimes get loud and rambunctious, as kids do, but you smile
benevolently and more or less let it ride, because you've been there before
and you know it's pretty harmless.  But when one of them stands up on the
dining room table and pisses on the silver chest, you remove him from your
house, and tell him not to return.  It's that simple.

IMHO, good call.

Georgs,

I am sorry that you had to do that. I know you did it for the integrity

of the list and I, for one, appreciate that.  I was one of those sitting and
watching the exchange and being embarassed for Rick.  It was way out of line.
I guess I am one of those naive/trusting/understanding people and the
thought of you being sold to promote any of those folks never entered my
mind.  Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for maintaining the integrity of
this list....I know sometimes it's not easy to do.

Trawler on,
John

PS....really enjoyed your posts from the Nordhavn.........Thanks!!!

Georgs,

I highly value this list, and I highly value your work in
creating and running this list.  You are a very good
man.  However, as I see it, here are some facts:

  1. You were wrong to include the material that Rick
found to be commercial in nature.  It WAS commercial
    in nature.

  2. Rick was wrong to suggest that you did it for financial
gain, and then was wrong again to not apologize.

  3. Although Rick clearly was behaving in a petulant and
immature way, you could have been more gracious and
mature in your response to him.  It is rarely a good idea
to back someone into a corner.

  4. You were wrong to delete Rick from the list.  You
    should have listened to Garrett.

Please note that this is a private message to you, not
something that I have posted on the list.

Hi Georgs,
Just as an aside, Rick is the primary reason I left the Live-Aboard list a
few months ago. His intent seems to be to stir up the pot just for stirrings
sake.
Was great reading your posts from the Nordhavn! Will somebody else continue
the posts?

OK if I screw up I admit it.  I should have waited to see if Georgs had made
a blunder before jumping to conclusions, but I didn't.  I have been sitting
back wondering when it was going to end like most of us and this was the
straw.  Posting private mail is a "big no no" to me and I reacted too soon.
Now I am guilty of the same that others have been accused of.  Maybe it is
the  holiday blues or something.
Georgs,  I apologize for my posting.
