I mentioned that there was no specific liability coverage clause in my
insurance policy on the subject of rendering assistance to others at sea.
Here is my insurance company's take on the issue:
"The quick answer is yes, you have coverage.
The further explanation is that your coverage is an "all perils" policy.
This means you have coverage for all perils that have not been excluded.
Since there is no exclusion to this action, it means there is coverage. We
do not want you to, nor should you feel you could not assist a person in
need. We require you to be in compliance with regulation and the USCG code
is a part of this."
