Installing Corian or Like Ilk

Anybody out there that has installed Corian or other manufactured
resin type countertops?
We have been considering such an installation in the galley of our
Krogen 42 (it's now some sort of laminate and has gotten rather
ugly).  Out contacts with installers have not been very fruitful -
most don't want to deal w/ boats.  On the other hand the local boat
cabinet makers say it's doable but that they cannot get the
material.  FYI we are in the PNW ie: Marins Bellingham

Any thoughts?
Thanks

You will not be able to get the solid surface material unless you have a
manufacturer's certification and a business license.  The manufacturers have
a lock on the materials so as to keep the prices up.  If you know someone
and they want to get the material for you...they risk their ability to buy
the product if they get caught.  I have tried several ways as a general
contractor to get the material and it is not going to be easy.  I have
found some shops willing to sell me scraps, but they never have what I need.
Best way is to keep searching for an installer.

Formica has solid surface products and solid material sinks. I bought some
product from a distributor in Maryland at wholesale with no trade
credentials.

Lowe's sells these same materials to the public. Check out these products at
www.formica.com .

My statement saying, "you will not be able to get the solid surface
material"  is in reference to the raw material...not fabricated tops from a
home store.
As an individual, you can buy fabricated tops if you supply the
dimensions..or better yet a full size pattern may be needed.
