Off Green Rd. in Stoney Creek at 5 pm were 4 female and 2 1st-year
male King Eiders. A Bald Eagle sat on the edge of the ice at Hamilton
Harbour near Tollgate Ponds. A pair of Peregrine Falcons were on the
Eastport lift bridge.
Two Saw-whet owls and a Northern Shrike were at the east end of
Fifty Point Conservation Area. At the Beamer Point Hawkwatch 19
migrants were tallied, including a Goshawk, 3 Coopers, 3 Sharp-shinned
hawks and a Turkey Vulture.
Directions: Green Rd is off the North Service Rd off the QEW in Stoney
Creek. 50 Point Cons. Area is off the 50 Road exit off the QEW near
Grimsby. Take the 1st left off the service rd. (east) to access the
conservation area. Beamer Point can be reached from 50 Rd. south up to
the top of the escarpment, then go east on Ridge Rd. to the signed
entrance.
